Kamikaze is an attack with death there was no possible way to survive.  The Japanese sent oil to get to the place but none to return back.  Also the bomb was fixed to the plane's body so it couldn't be dropped.  The Japanese also took out the landing gear so the Kamikaze pilots couldn't land or come back.  They also would nail the lid shut before the pilots took off so they couldn't get out.  The reason they did this is because the pilots thought it was honorable and heroic.  The Kamikaze attacks didn't come till the end of the war because the Japs were running out of options to do.

From October 25, 1944 to to January 25, 1945 the Kamikaze attacks managed to sink two escort carries and three destroyers.  The attacks also damaged 23 carriers, five battleships, nine cruisers, 23 destroyers and 27 other ships.  The attacks killed 738 and 1,300 wounded.  The planes that the Japanese used were either the dive bombers or the zero.  The zero had a speed up to 332 mph and a range of 1,930 miles.  The zero was 29 feet nine inches long, with a wing span of about 39 feet.

One of the reasons Harry S. Truman dropped the bombs were because of the Kamikaze pilots.
